HOBAS pipes are sometimes used for transporting items other than water and sewer. Recently in Leipzig, a city of east-central Germany south-southwest of Berlin, HOBAS supplied products to complete the ‘pipe course’ portion of the new “Energy Playground”. HOBAS was recommended by the Leipzig waterworks as an alternative, which was gladly accepted by the Department for Green Spaces which sponsored the project.

The Leipzig Department of Public Works organized a design competition for the playground which pupils from a nearby school won. The course was set up with pipe bends that were partially open and laminated to pedestals. With a little help from the City’s graffiti club, the pipes soon turned into pieces of playful art. opened June 11th, 2009. Representatives from the Department of Public Works and Green Spaces were on hand for the event.
